Default VoIP replace a landline?

There are benefits to VoIP, especially cost-wise. Would you ever consider replacing your landline entirely with VoIP?

As a precaution, I'd always want a good old-fashioned phone in case of an emergency. I can't predict where VoIP will go in the future, however, so I try to keep an open mind.

I would switch over completely in a second. The only reason I still have a landline and not VoIP is because I rent and share a phone line. I don't see an old fashion landline as more secure, because cordless phones don't work in power outages, and phone companies are going to start being internet based. What's more stable then the internet?

Negatives - say a storm comes and nocks the electricity out, but your computer buffs it because you have a surge protector. The computer going into it's normal ground functions restarts to protect itself and the common glitch sparks, an open connection call is made randomly from your viop due to the electricity floating about. Probably untill you restart your computer that call is going to be on for a very long time... and as they say.. time is money How does one fix this It's a lot easier than you thought, simply just unplug your computer when a storm comes :O Yes it's that simple

lol Anyways

I'd consider it a pretty good deal because i've had my phone line go out and my computer still run... but the fact i don't like is phone tapping because a lot easier. Due to the fact that it's cheaper and almost instant I think when i get my own place i might be going with that.

I think it will. But then the carriers and service providers are smart too. Given their infrastructure, they will soon be into this game bigway.

Default definitely

i would definitely give up my landline in a second, lets say a storm happens and you have a cordless phone your landline is rendered useless, a broadband connection is the only thing necessary to ensure phone calls. im so with it!
