The team at SmartPhonesTalk.com work tirelessly to provide a community where users can find and share information on the latest phones and related technologies. We hope that all users are able to contribute to building a friendly atmosphere to be enjoyed by all.

With that in mind, we must also set out some rules and guidelines so that we can "keep the peace". We understand that the vast majority of users are here for the right reasons, but unfortunately there will always be users with bad intentions.

We reserve full rights to remove, edit, move, close posts or threads. We also reserve full rights to revoke user rights, ban members temporarily or ban users permanently. Users who are found to be in breach of the rules may have any rewards points or such forfeited.

This rule is a safeguard for us against the small minority that will do the wrong thing. We fully anticipate such users joining our forums over the course of our operation so we are prepared and will use the above actions when required.

Golden Rule - Treat this forum as if it were your own

You, the users, are the cornerstones of any forum. We look after the administration and all the behind the scenes work. Look after the forum, and the forum will look after you. If you see any suspicious behaviour, behaviour against the forum rules, private messages (PM) with advertising content etc, be sure to report it to one of the moderators. We are always on the lookout for sponsors to provide prizes and such, so we really need to show potential sponsors that we have a good, loyal, member base.

General Rules

• Absolutely no racism or discrimination. The team will not tolerate any attacks on any person or persons based on their race, gender or religion.
• Posting in languages other than English. Because we are English speakers ourselves and marketed the forum in the English language, we request that all posts be made in the English language. In addition, we wouldn't be able to enforce these rules if we don't understand what's being said!
• No multiple accounts. Any person identified as having multiple accounts may be banned without warning. We do understand that family members, flatmates, housemates etc. who share a computer may wish to register. We try to be flexible as we can. Our main area of concern is the distribution of rewards points, or entries into competitions where multiple accounts create an unfair advantage. In these circumstances, we will judge each case individually.
• No flaming/trolling/bumping. This refers to posts made which do not benefit the particular thread or the community as a whole. Flaming is defined as personal attacks against other members. We encourage constructive criticism, and certainly encourage debating of issues but with good netiquette. Any personal attacks via threads or private messaging will not be tolerated. Trolling is defined as making useless or unrelated posts in an effort to divert the focus away from the topic of the thread. Bumping is defined as making useless or unrelated posts in an effort to move the thread up to the top of the forum or to create the impression that the thread is popular.
• No advertising/spam. We do not allow posting of advertisements without the prior written consent of our team. We have good sponsors who look after us, who in turn look after you so any other forms of advertising is not accepted. If you wish to advertise on our forum, please e-mail us using the contact form to obtain information on our advertising rates and plans. In special circumstances where a member has been a long serving member, or has made a major contribution to us, we may make special arrangements to allow some forms of advertising. Please e-mail us using the contact form if you feel you may fit into such a category.
• Posting of links. We are happy to allow links that are relevant to the topic being discussed in the thread. However, we do not allow advertising. For example, if a member is discussing a particular model of phone, that is not your cue to jump in with your offers, but you may post links to a page with a legitimate review, or the manufacturers site. For links of general interest, we will not allow any links to websites which contain adult/explicit/illegal/hate content.
• Censored words/phrases. We have a filter in place for some words that may be considered offensive. Working around these filters by adding dots, spaces, hyphens, substituting with special characters, etc. is not acceptable. Please keep in mind that the users of this forum vary in age.
• Mining. We do not allow mining, which is defined as activity to gather data for the purposes of use on another website. If you are found to be gathering data from the forums or members for this reason, you will be banned.

Signature Rules

The signature space is an area you can customise to include a personal message, links etc.You are able to create your signature once you have made 20 posts. This is to prevent people from signing up to the forum with only the intention of advertising in their signature.


We ask that you follow these rules:

• No affiliate links. Links to websites with affiliate content are allowed, but your link must be http://www.website.com/ without appending ID's or such.
• No direct advertising. This is defined as having sales or pricing information in your signature. We do not want to compromise our relationships with our sponsors in the case that a member's signature contains advertisements which compete with our sponsors offers. If you own a store of have a promotion/sale to advertise, please consider working with us through the marketplace or through sponsorships.
• No links to websites that contain adult/explicit/illegal/hate content.
• Signature can be a maximum of 3 lines.
• Pictures are NOT permitted for use in signatures.

Additional Forum Specific Rules

In addition to the above, some forums may have additional rules. These rules will be clearly marked in a thread titled "Additional rules for this forum". Please make sure to read each of these threads if you plan to use that specific forum.

Privacy Policy

SmartPhonesTalk.com / SmartPhonesTalk.net will never disclose any of your personal information unless required to do so by law. We also request that members do not disclose any personal information regarding other members without their consent.
