| WidgetBucks - Trend Watch - WidgetBucks.com Eten G500 Review The Eten G500 was met with some skepticism in the first quarter of 2006. It was hyped up beyond belief, and people were really waiting to see if the Eten G500 could live up to its early name. After the release of the Eten G500 the verdict is still out. There are many areas of this phone that are among the best in the industry, but at the same time there have been a few complaints here and there. When it comes down to it, the Eten G500 is a great unit if you have done your homework in advance and know what you are getting. The majority of people that do not like the Eten G500 buy it with something else in mind. For this reason they end up getting something that does not suit their overall needs. From the outside the Eten G500 is a great looking phone. It has a black face on a silver body that really makes it stand out above the crowd; it looks ultra sharp to say the least. As far as size is concerned, the Eten G500 does not disappoint in any area. The Eten G500 measures in at 119 by 62 by 23 mm. And if this is not good enough for you, the Eten G500 weighs only 186 grams, including the battery. This makes the Eten G500 a very compact design which is very easy to handle regardless of situation or circumstances. The number one feature of the Eten G500 is the fully integrated GPS system. With an internal antenna design, owners of the Eten G500 never again have to carry around two units if they need a PDA as well as GPS; this unit does it all. There are not too many other units on the market today with this type of functionality. You get the best of the best when it comes to the functions of a PDA, but you can also take advantage of the top notch GPS system. Finding this anywhere else is hard to do. The display screen of the Eten G500 is also a feature that stands out head and shoulders above the competition. It is 42 by 57 mm big, and comes with 240 by 320 pixels. To go along with all of this, the display is also equipped with TFT touch screen technology. This makes it easy to navigate the phone without having to struggle with small keys or rollers; all you have to do is touch the screen and you can get to where you are going in no time at all. Hand writing recognition is also available on the Eten G500 so that you can jot down quick notes in a matter of seconds. The Eten G500 comes equipped with a 1.3 megapixel camera. Even though this camera is not the best in the industry, it can most definitely hold its own. You may not get the best and most clear pictures with this camera, but for everyday needs it is more than capable of getting the job done. The camera also comes with a flash feature, as well as video functionality. Pocket Office is the software that helps to make the Eten G500 one of the best in the industry. With this software you can run Excel, Word, and Outlook without any problems at all. This goes a long way in ensuring that when you take your Eten G500 on the road, you get to take your work with you as well. The Eten G500 also gives you the ability to read e-books. This is a great feature if you are going on long trips, and do not want to take a lot of stuff with you. With the Eten G500 you get plenty of memory so that you never have to worry about having to leave important information at the office. The Eten G500 is equipped with 128 MB Flash ROM, and 64 MB SDRAM. If this is not enough, you can add more memory via the miniSD card slot; this allows you to have plenty of space to store everything imaginable. In addition to the memory, the Eten G500 is powered by a Samsung S3C2440 400 MHz Processor. This ensures that you will be able to navigate your unit with speed; gone are the days of waiting around for your programs to load. The bottom line is that the Eten G500 is a great unit if you are looking for an all in one PDA. With the Eten G500 you have the ability to do everything from making simple phone calls to reading e-books to taking pictures. Not to mention the fact that this unit comes equipped with a GPS system. All in all, the Eten G500 is a great unit if you want all in one functionality. Pros
