| WidgetBucks - Trend Watch - WidgetBucks.com Published: Sat, 26 May 2007 13:31:55 +0200 Okay, the idea isn't that new anyway (see my posting from 2005: Pimp your Ride or how to make your car truly wireless) but Avis Rent A Car took it serious and launched its new service that provides Avis renters with portable wireless Internet access on Monday. The new Avis portable wireless Internet service works in the car as well as it can be carried anywhere, from the hotel room to the conference room and beyond, to help travelers stay connected wherever they go. Avis customers will be now able to rent an Autonet Mobile Service unit, the first "always-on broadband mobile network," which provides a portable mobile WiFi hotspot that works virtually anywhere. The new technology will initially be available in 10 U.S. markets, for an additional fee of US$ 10.95 per day.
