Do you create your own ringtones?

I have a song that kinda haunts me: Nightwish - walking in the air. So I cut it and made it a ringtone for my phone.

Does anyone here "create" his/her own ringtone?

I've never made my own ringtone. How do you go about doing that? I think it's something I could have some fun with.

I used to create ringtones on monophonic phones (such as Nokia 1100, 2300) a couple of years back. Haven't tried any polyphonic ringtone.

I'd like to but my phone (N6230) does not have the software. Maybe for my next phone

I've tried to create my own ring tones, but my skills were even poorer than my phone software, so my ring tones came out very bad. Anyway, I never made anything useable.

How do you go about creating good ring tones? Do you need special software?

I have some sick recording of me playing some songs on the guitar (my personal favorite Sweet Child O' Mine by Guns N' Roses) i recorded them as voice memos. I still have yet to figure out how i make my voice memo a ring tone but if anyone has any tips i'd love to hear myself play everytime i get a call lol.

i havent tried it yet, but Wireless, the magazine has an article on this site The Ringtone Maker - Make your own ringtones

it allows you to specify which section of a song you want to use as a ringtone, and is compatible with several music formats.

Yeah, I created my own with just audio and then I created a video ringtone. But it didn't come out too well at first using my palm700 video camera. The music wasn't loud enough.
I redid it, put the video on my computer and put music to it there. Then
I found a software called TVL Connect on this site, The Video Load to make & edit my video ringtone to make it "more professional" like. So now I have some really good personal video ringtones. Has anybody made any video ringtones with their smartphones?
