If you are someone that enjoys listening to music on their iPhone, the chances are you will have already heard of Beats by Dr. Dre headphones. If you are unaware of Beats, then they are basically the most popular headphones on the planet right now. A new accessory unveiled this week is set to introduce Beats to a whole new audience, and goes by the name of the Dr. Dre Beatbox.

Fans of portable docking stations for listening to their iPhone tunes out loud will love what the Beatbox has to offer. The portable speaker has wireless Bluetooth connectivity allowing it to work with pretty much any mobile device or computer; however, it is the 30-pin connector on top that says this accessory belongs to the iPhone. What is likely to appeal most to music fans, and lovers of the Beats headphones is the fact that Beats Audio technology is included in this device, and that is immediately apparent when music is played through the 5.25 inch woofer, providing an unparalleled range – whatever the music. Beatbox also comes with a 3.5 mm headphone jack which will allow connection of a variety of music devices and a remote which will allow full control of the accessory.

The wireless play and portability are the features that will make the latest Beats offering so appealing, allowing owners to play their music wherever and whenever they choose to. The wireless function will be powered by 6 D-cell batteries, which should provide around 15 hours of continuous playback.

As with all Beats by Dr. Dre products, the price is likely to anger music lovers and prevent many fans from owning a Beatbox. Techno Buffalo reports that the portable speaker will go on sale on March 11 in white and black versions for a pretty steep $399 and will be initially exclusive to AT&T. While the price may turn people off, the quality of the Beatbox will turn many on. If you are looking for a portable speaker and have the funds available, the Dr. Dre Beatbox has to be the choice.
